This week we get to know more about Susanna Panagiotou, Lifestyle Assistant at Arcare Hillside. Susanna has shared that “I never wanted to work in aged care, however, I was invited to a seminar that was held by Arcare and since that day I have never looked back. I love to bring joy into residents lives but in return they bring joy into mine.” Outside of work, Susanna loves cooking and singing, and karaoke Thursdays at work are her favorite activity.

What do you love about Arcare and working in Aged Care?

When clients tell me how much they love me and thank me for making their day so joyful.

What are your favourite stories of working at your residence / with your team / with a client?

I never wanted to work in aged care, however, I was invited to a seminar that was held by Arcare and since that day I have never looked back. I love to bring joy into residents lives but in return they bring joy into mine.

What tips or advice would you give to someone looking to work in Aged Care?

Lots of patience, compassion, let’s make their last journey in life as happy and joyful as we can. Treat them as you would your own parents, with kindness and respect.

What is your special talent that you enjoy doing outside of work? How did you learn this talent?

Cooking, my dear mother taught me.

Can you share one fun fact about yourself?

I love singing, karaoke Thursdays at work is my favorite activity, I feel like I’m a rock star!
